It is important to make sure you get the right amount of water before, during, and after exercise. Drinking enough water will not only keep you hydrated but can also provide numerous benefits to your health and well-being.

If you’re not properly hydrated, your body can’t perform at its highest level. You may experience dizziness, fatigue, muscle cramps, or more serious symptoms. Because water aids in body regulation and brain function, it’s also closely related to balancing mood and emotions.

Water also regulates your body temperature and lubricates your joints. Hydration helps to keep your body temperature from overheating. In addition, when you sweat, you are losing water and need to replenish your body with the water it lost.

H20 aids in the transport of oxygen to your muscles so they are prepared when exerted. It also helps transport nutrients to give you energy and keep you healthy.

Drinking water instead of soda or sugary juices will not only quench your thirst but will also lower the amount of excess calories that you take in any given day.

A simple way to make sure you’re staying properly hydrated is to check your urine. If your urine is consistently colorless or light yellow, you are most likely staying well hydrated.

There are no exact rules for how much water to drink while exercising because everyone is different, but a good rule to stick by is if you feel thirsty – drink water! You should also consider factors including your sweat rate, the heat and humidity in your work out environment, and how long and hard you are exercising.
